WL2 – Technology 2.0 in the World Language Classroom
Presenter: Henry DeBENEDETTO (Billerica Public Schools)
Description: Come learn about some free websites and apps that you can use to engage your students and track their progress. Website and apps to be featured: Kaboot, Duolingo, Memrise, Quizlet, Edpuzzle and more. Be sure to add these apps to your devices before the workshop! The presentation will be in English with examples in Italian and Spanish.
WL3 – Game On!
Presenter: Veronica GADBOIS (Chelmsford Public Schools)
Description: Come learn how you can turn language learning into a game that gets students using the target language 90+% of the time. You will leave with a ready-to-use game! NOTE: The presentation will be in English with examples in French.
WL4 – Sevir Para Aprender
Presenter: Isa PEREZ-LUCAFO (Andover Public Schools)
Description: Learn about the curriculum development and best practices of a Spanish course offered at Andover High School. This course uses the service-learning model and combines community service with an academic component. The neighboring city of Lawrence, MA is used as a focal point, and students have the opportunity to learn and explore the rich history and culture of the past and present immigrant experience. The service component allows the students to collaborate with local social agencies that service the Latino Community. It is a journey of reflection in which the students learn about modern immigrant life, as they connect with and explore their own cultural identity. The presentation will be in English with examples in Spanish.
WL6 – Project-Based Learning: Music in the Classroom

Come and learn about project-based learning! This workshop will (1) review “What is Project-Based Learning?” (2) share samples of successful Music/Spanish PBL units and (3) include an interactive activity. NOTE: The presentation will be in English with examples in Spanish.
WL7 – Get Creative with PixnTell!
Presenter: Kathy CAHILL (North Reading Public Schools
Description: Let your students tell a story with the PixnTell app presentation. Students can get creative with culture, grammar, language, comparisons, etc. We will design a PixnTell project and presentation for you to use the next day! NOTE: The presentation will be in English, with examples in French. Some i-Pads will be available for participants to use during the session.
WL8 – Reading Strategies in the Latin Classroom
Presenter: Shawntel Fugate (Chelmsford Public Schools)
Description: Do you want to expand your toolkit of pre-and post- reading strategies? We will discuss vocabulary introduction techinques, embedded readings, 3-reads, and more. Emphasis will be on activities for introductory classes, but strategies will be relevant for all levels of Latin. Bring your own ideas to share and a passage to work on during our session. NOTE: The presentation will be in English, with examples in Latin.

WL1 – Record Your Students!
Presenter: Amy ST. ARNAUD and Kathy DASHO (North Reading Public Schools)
Description: Let’s get together and talk about proficiency! Assess your students speaking often and easily with these free apps and websites. We will pratice recording with Tellagami, Voice Recorder, Vocaroo and google voice. Of course, we will also talk about the ACTFL Levels of Proficiency and Google Drive (that is where the recording will be stored!). Be sure to put Tellagami and Voice Recorder on your device before you come (phone or iPad). They are free apps. NOTE: The presentation will be in English with examples in Spanish. Some i-Pads will be available to participants to use during the session.
WL5 – Reading Strategies in the Target Language: le Petit Nicolas
Presenter: Mairin Chagnon (Chelmsford Public Schools)
Description: Come learn how to use scaffolding techniques to help your students get the most out of the stories of Petit Nicolas. We’ll go over vocabulary and grammar exercises as well as reading and writing strategies for before and after the story. NOTE: The presentation will be in English with examples in French.
WL9 – Authentic Resources for All Learners
Presenter: Barbara Taha (Chelmsford Public Schools)
Description: Do you want to engage your students with the target language? Come learn how to incorporate authentic resources into all levels of instruction, using such resources with struggling learners and with AP students as well as with everyone in between. NOTE: The presentation will be in English, with examples in Spanish.
WL10 – The Song of the Week: Affective Aspects to Learning Another Language
Presenter: Tom POWERS (Andover Public Schools)
Description: The presentation will include ideas for presenting music in context, vocabulary, grammar, and response techniques to encourage and inspire language learning. Knowledge of Google Classroom is helpful, but not mandatory. NOTE: The presentation will be in Spanish.
WL11 – Manos a la obra
Presenter: Maria HERNANDEZ (Andover Public Schools)
Description: This workshop will develop materials for use in Spanish classes at different levels. Examples of specific materials include games and other dynamic activities to motivate your students to participate in class. Participants are asked, if possible, to bring a cube-shaped tissue box…empty or full (in the form of dice) to the session. Other materials will be provided. NOTE: This workshop will be presented in Spanish.
WL12 – Attention All Learners: UDL in the World Language Classroom
Presenter: Sharon CHARBONNIER (Westford Public Schools)
Description: Come learn about the principles of Universal Design for Learning. Design high-tech and low-tech activities and strategies to engage diverse learners with the target language.
