PEH1 Unified PE (PE)
This presentation will give you the skills needed to create a Unified Physical Education class geared towards students with special needs while bringing students with and without disabilities together. The reverse integration model includes mainstreamed students working along side students with special needs on a one-to-one ratio. We will run through the steps needed to create such a class as well as dive into what the class looks like in action. The Unified Physical Education class is designed to enhance the physical, intellectual and social growth for all students.
PEH2 Ed Camp
Edcamp is a professional development model where the topics are decided by the participants. It is an “unconference” where the group decides what it wants to discuss, and educators select the topics that are interesting to them.The day starts with an opening where everyone is welcomed and the group reviews the “rules” for the day: Vote with your feet (go to whatever session you want, and leave if it doesn’t work for you) Participate at your level of comfort! Start with a circle and share your name, school, and why this topic is interesting for you. Then share best practices, ideas you’ve tried, questions you have, etc.

PEH3 Non-Traditional Equipment in PE
The session will highlight 3 developmentally appropriate activities that utilizes non-traditional equipment in PE. These safe and proven pieces of equipment, that all of us have, will provide a more comprehensive content package in what we offer to our students each year. These activities are very easily modified for all age levels. This session is active. Observers are welcome as well.
PEH4 Project Challenge Outside the Classroom
Project Challenge trust games and activities build student self esteem and promote decision making and communication skill building. Why not take our health students out of the classroom and into a new environment where they work together to solve puzzles and complete challenges? Please join Colleen in this exciting session! PEH7 Introducing….Pickleball!
Pickleball is one of America’s fastest growing sports and specifically is a mixture of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It’s fast, fun, and exciting and has become popular in groups from teens to aging citizens! All over the country, we are seeing leagues popping up everywhere and it is also replacing shuffleboard and tennis in retirement communities. It is a game that can be played inside or outside, used as a lead-up game for tennis, and can be adopted into physical education programs. Pickleball is fun for people of all ages and no experience is necessary to play! Come join in and learn the rules and try pickleball for yourself.
PEH8 Teaching Emotional Regulation Strategies in Middle School PE
After teaching middle school special education for 17 years, I was hired as one of the PE teachers at school. At that time, the principal asked me to research and develop lessons that would directly teach emotional regulation skills in the PE classes. The hope was to create a culture where all students participated and behavioral issues, particularly office referrals decreased. Today, I will be sharing these lessons and the data I’ve collected for the past three years.
PEH9 Break Free From Depression
Break Free From Depression: In this session, participants will be introduced to Break Free from Depression (BFFD), a four session classroom based universal high school prevention curriculum developed to raise awareness around adolescent depression. Participants will be given the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the prevalence of adolescent depression as well as how to implement a mental health prevention program in their school and/or community. Participants will be given a link to access the free online training. (PE and Health Session)
PEH10 Teaching Strategies for Difficult Health Topics
This session will provide opportunities to discuss difficult topics in health education and share strategies to engage in these conversations with students. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and strategies or protocols that work in their environments. This is designed to be an interactive discussion.

PEH11 Technology for Assessment in PE: Using Seesaw Learning Journal to Assess Student Achievement
This workshop is intended to give a basic knowledge of how to use the Seesaw learning journal app and technology to assess student learning in Physical Education. We will start with a very brief overview of the role technology should play in Physical Education and some of the common obstacles P.E. teachers face when thinking of integrating technology into their daily classes. The focus will quickly shift to the Seesaw learning journal app. Participants will spend time learning the basic features of the app work and designing, standards based, journal assignments which could be used for student assessment. The workshop is intended to be hands on with participants posting entries to a sample class journal as part of the workshop. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring their own digital device with the Seesaw learning journal app already installed. (iOS, Android, Kindle Fire)
PEH12 Nitroball
Get ready to try something new with this volleyball spin-off! This game is great for kids of all grade levels and is an effective lead-up game for volleyball. The unique NitroBall game is essentially an inverted version of volleyball, with a net that’s lower to the ground with the ball needing to bounce between hits before going over the net. Volleyball skills, such as passing, setting, hitting, serving as well as movement on the court are mastered in this game. Already know about nitroball? A variation of this game played by 4 teams at once will also be taught with emphasis on strategy! NitroBall is easy to learn, fun to play, and keeps your students moving!
PEH13 Life Of A Blue Devil
Youth are a driving factor in changing the culture of any school. The blue devil student leadership is designed to increase positive lifestyle choices made by student athletes and extracurricular leaders in the school. Having students educate other teammates and club members on the impact of lifestyle choices on performance, the leadership team works on empowering students to support each other in making positive lifestyle choices. The leadership team focuses on how to become and maintain being a positive role model within the school community but also to the youth in town. These leaders teaching and navigating team dynamics and addressing team issues. This session is designed to discuss why having a student leadership is critical to a positive school culture and how to get a leadership team started.(PE and Health Session)
PEH14 Modified Speedball
Modified speedball is a fast-paced game that combines the elements of soccer, basketball, football, and combines these elements with those of team handball. The play of the game resembles soccer in that players can move anywhere on the court to try to help their team score via their feet and yet players also have the ability to score via the air by throwing the ball into a goal (restricted boundaries will apply). This is a dynamic team centered game.

The Mindful Educator: Back by popular demand, participants will learn strategies for mindfulness in the classroom, but also be given the tools to bring mindfulness to the staff and faculty at your own school during a department meeting or PD day. After all, adult wellness matters too! (PE and Health Session)

PEH17 Goals in a Box
In this teacher led session, Lindsay will share her favorite lesson to engage students in a thoughtful goal setting lesson that challenges them to identify why setting and achieving goals is difficult. This Unit Activator introducing Goal Setting will teach your students some important rules to remember when trying to achieve their goals. It is a competitive, hands-on activity that has students working collaboratively towards a goal while the instructor throws curve balls at them along the way.

PEH18 Stick Jumping
What do you get when you combine Olympic athletes with bamboo sticks in a Growth Mindset curriculum? It’s called “STICK JUMPING.” Olympic Gold Medalist and Hall of Famer Stacy Dragila’s Non Profit Charity “Try Something New” presents a Common Core Compliant, standards-based P.E. curriculum incorporating physics/biomechanics with a historical context: Utilizing bamboo sticks, the Unit teaches kids how to jump over and across obstacles and, in the process, learn how to challenge themselves and appreciate the power of “failing up.”
PEH19 Group Circuit Training
This fun method of exercise lets every student work at their own pace and fitness level. This is an intro to learning the basics of working out. Emphasis on body weight exercises and good form. All areas of the body are targeted creating a full body strength and cardio workout.
PEH20 Cause Day
What if you could teach empathy and compassion while putting all the fundraising in your school into one program? Cause Day is a turn-key program that focuses on the Social-Emotional Learning of your students, staff and school community. This is a program that everyone in your school can participate in, by choosing a “Cause” (or “Causes”) that they are passionate about and is near-and-dear to their heart. The most impactful outcome of this program is the opportunities it creates for students and staff to make/build connections while demonstrating empathy for others. You will be able to teach Social Emotional Learning, support ALL Charities at once, and bring the community together in a way that will remind you of why you became a teacher in the first place. PEH21 Building Our Kids Success (BOKS)
BOKS is a physical activity program that empowers school communities to improve their children physically, mentally and socially through the power of movement. Backed by science, BOKS provides each school community with a robust curriculum, training and on-going support to establish and maintain impactful programs serving the whole child. In an effort to close the fitness inequality gap, the BOKS program is 100% FREE to schools so that children have access to the extensive health and wellness benefits of sport and fitness no matter their income level.(PE and Health Session)

In this session, you’ll receive information and training on how to implement these turnkey, digital programs in your classroom.
PEH23 The Truth about Vaping
“The Truth About Vaping” – This presentation will address the significant rise among teens in the practice of vaping or juuling, a form of smoking with a nicotine-based liquid and an electronic device or e- cigarette. With one in three high school seniors nationwide confirming that they have experienced “vaping” in the past year, Wellness Educators are eager to educate themselves and make informed decisions of how they will address vaping in their own classes and curriculum.
