SLP1 Social-Pragmatic Language for Middle and High School Students
Social skills are an integral part of student learning and interpersonal success among peer relationships both in and out of the classroom. During this one-hour session, we will discuss the roles that self-awareness, conversational, self-advocacy, relationship/boundary and perspective taking skills play in the social success of students and a classroom’s climate. Various tips and tools will be presented, offering teachers and therapists ways to adapt activities based on the specific needs of their students, develop interactive lessons to keep students engaged and embrace flexibility during lessons.
SLP2 AAC Implementation and Resources
This course will provide outline of AAC tools and technologies, programming and implementation resources and ideas for school based SLPs.
SLP3 AT Tools and Resources for SLPs
This course will outline free and low cost resources using Google Chrome Apps & Extension, Boardmaker Online Community and built in iOS accessibility features for use as an SLP.
SLP4 Neuroscience and Sensory Processing for Students with ASD, ADHD
This presentation will cover a basic background of the nervous system and the relationship between neuroscience and self-regulation. It will also provide sensory and language based techniques and strategies to use when working with individuals with autism, ADHD and sensory disorders.
SLP5 Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Groping, vowel distortion, and inconsistent speech sound productions… Oh My! Is it apraxia or a severe phonological disorder? How do we tell the difference? We will discuss the differences between the two and the specific characteristics that lead us to the diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. We figured out that it’s AOS. Now what? Let’s explore various treatment techniques, service delivery options, and resources.
SLP6 Literacy and Phonemic Awareness
This session will outline methodologies and strategies for using streamlined reading assessments used in the classroom to better understand and analyze a students’ full reading profile. It will also address balanced literacy in a classroom, review different reading programs used to address balanced literacy, as well as normal phonemic awareness and literacy acquisition in a classroom . Lastly, we will review the role of a literacy coach/reading specialist, and how it may overlap with SLP’s role.
SLP7 Social Coaching and Video Modelling
How can we help students use previously learned social communication skills outside of the therapy room? Using Video Modeling and Social Coaching therapists can help students transfer social skill knowledge from the therapy room into their social interactions in the classroom. Video Modeling is a therapy approach where children learn to sequence and apply social behaviors to various social contexts by watching videos of themselves or others engaging in pro social behavior. Social coaching is a methodology used to assist in the carryover of learned skills into a more naturalistic environment. During this presentation you will learn about both methods, leave with ideas on how they can be implemented into treatment sessions and walk away with resources to train other staff members on how to implement these strategies throughout the day.
SLP8 Eligibility and Exit Criteria for Speech-Language Services in the Public Schools
This course will outline specific criteria for speech-language services through evidence based, ASHA supported bet practices across multiple diagnosis and disabilities. This course is most relevant for public school therapists across the age spans.

This course will encourage open discussion on a variety of ideas and topics related to the SLP field. A running list of resources and ideas will be created and shared.

This session will cover key regulations that all special education personnel are bound to follow including Parents’ Rights and district responsibilities. Other important topics will include errors that can put districts on the road to a BSEA hearing, appropriate communications, progress monitoring for IEP development, changing demographics, and dealing with and redirecting difficult conversations.
