Option #2:“A Tactical Approach To Teaching Team Sports in Physical Education.”
The tactical approach to teaching sports is a great way to go about teaching team sports that integrates common sports concepts with skill development in a fun environment. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the philosophy of the tactical approach as well as practical knowledge of how to design and implement lessons and units using the tactical approach. Participants should come ready to move as the best way to learn the tactical approach is to experience it first-hand!

Option #3: “Teaching Skills Based Health for the 21st Century.”
Have you Googled health information? You can be sure that your students have! Students in the 21st century must be able to safely navigate the web for accurate, valid, and reliable health information. This presentation will be a “flipped classroom” model of National Health Education Standard 3, Accessing Valid Information. Participants will receive instructions on how to implement a skills-based health unit as well as all documents used to take this unit to their own classrooms!

Option #4: First Tee in our Schools: Making a difference when it comes to the social, emotional, and physical well being of our students!
With one in five students dropping out of public high schools, the need for quality youth programs is critical. Teaching a lifelong sport like golf can be a part of the solution to challenges facing today’s youth. These challenges often pertain to social and emotional conflicts. The First Tee reaches young people ages 5-18 through golf instruction and life skills lessons that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. A demonstration of a lesson will be provided, as well as discussions regarding different ways of obtaining funds and potential grants for the program.

This session will highlight the difference between physical activity and physical education and redefine physical educations vital role in today’s children.
